Structural Drafting and BIM Technician
Collaborate closely with engineers to produce accurate, high-quality construction documents
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Structural Drafting and BIM Technician (4+ years of experience) with a strong structural focus to join our growing team in Boise, Idaho. We also welcome candidates from a variety of drafting backgrounds who are interested in developing their skills within a structural engineering environment.
This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse structural projects while collaborating closely with our engineers to produce accurate, detailed construction documents.
As a small firm, this role offers direct collaboration with engineers and leadership, allowing you to contribute meaningfully to project deliverables and internal standards. It is best suited for individuals who take pride in producing high-quality documentation and want to expand their technical understanding of structural systems.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of professional drafting experience (Revit required, Archicad +).
Experience creating construction documents, details, and 3D models.
Proficiency in Revit for modeling and documentation.
Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Valid driver's license and authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Structural-oriented project experience strongly preferred, including exposure to structural steel, concrete, wood frame, and/or foundation systems.
Archicad experience strongly preferred; candidates with demonstrated proficiency will receive priority consideration.
Autodesk certification preferred; demonstrates advanced software proficiency.
Understanding of structural engineering principles and drafting standards.
Experience with additional software such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, or structural analysis programs.
Key Responsibilities
3D Modeling & Documentation
Create and maintain accurate Revit/BIM models for structural systems, producing detailed construction documents, plans, sections, and details.
Quality Control
Review and verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
Coordination
Collaborate with structural engineers to translate design concepts into detailed drawings and coordinate with architectural and MEP disciplines for clash detection.
Project Support
Assist engineers with quantity takeoffs, material schedules, and responses to RFIs during construction.
Standards Development
Contribute to the development and maintenance of company CAD/BIM standards, templates, and detail libraries.
Compensation and Benefits
This Boise-based role offers competitive compensation ($60K - $90K, based on experience), with a $3K sign-on bonus for direct applicants.
