Senior Technical Engineer (PE or SE)

Lead structural projects, mentor the next generation of engineers, and play a key role in shaping both project outcomes and team development

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Technical Engineer (8+ years of licensed experience) to join our structural engineering team in Boise, Idaho.

In this role, you will provide technical guidance, oversight, and mentorship across high-profile projects spanning residential, commercial, industrial, public, and component design. This position balances team leadership with hands-on project work, ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex structural challenges while having a meaningful influence on project direction.

As a small firm, this role offers direct, daily access to leadership and the opportunity to influence both project outcomes and team development. It is best suited for engineers who want to lead, mentor, and remain deeply in project work without being siloed or limited to project management. For the right individual, this position also provides the opportunity to help shape both the technical direction and future growth of the firm.

This position is available for immediate hire with relocation assistance for qualified out-of-state candidates.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • P.E. license required; S.E. license preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a licensed professional engineer in structural engineering, including experience in the design of residential, commercial, industrial, and component projects.

  • Proven ability to effectively lead, mentor, and develop junior engineering staff.

  • Proficiency in design software (RISA Suite, Revit, ArchiCad).

  • Strong leadership, communication, and technical writing skills.


Technical Leadership

Provide technical oversight, leadership, and QA/QC from conceptual design through construction administration.

Documentation

Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, drawings, and other structural documentation.

Mentorship

Mentor junior engineers, review work, and ensure adherence to standards and best practices.

Structural Analysis

Perform advanced structural analyses and evaluations for new and existing structures.

Key Responsibilities

Expert Knowledge

Maintain up-to-date, expert-level knowledge of structural engineering codes, standards, materials, and construction methods.

Collaboration

Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, and other design professionals to coordinate structural engineering efforts.

Innovation

Lead development of structural solutions that are both innovative and practical, aligned with project requirements and client goals.

Client Representation

Represent the firm in client meetings, presentations, and site inspections.


Compensation and Benefits

  • This Boise-based role offers competitive compensation ($100K - $140K based on experience), a $5K sign-on bonus for direct applicants, and comprehensive benefits, including healthcare, dental, vision, and life insurance.
